سبقنا ولم نسبق وضمنا ولم نضم

سبقنا ولم نسبق وضمنا ولم نضم

لنا ذاك محتوماً على الناس محكما

لنا ذاك محتوماً على الناس محكما

We outstripped others and were not outstripped; we oppressed others and were not oppressed.

We led when none led, and we gained when none gained,

That is decreed for us over mankind, firmly established.

That was destined for us over people decisively.

فما عد إنسان بأمثل هاشم

فما عد إنسان بأمثل هاشم

إذا عددوا الاباء أسنى وأكرما

إذا عددوا الاباء أسنى وأكرما

For no man is reckoned finer than Hashim,

So no human can count the like of Hashim,

when they count forefathers—more illustrious and more noble.

If they count the fathers, more virtuous and generous.

وما أفتخر الأقوام إلا بفضلنا

وما أفتخر الأقوام إلا بفضلنا

وما وجدوا إلا لنا متجشما

وما وجدوا إلا لنا متجشما

And the peoples have boasted only through our excellence.

And no people boast but for our merit,

And they found none to shoulder hardship except one of ours.

And they found no one but us frowning against adversity.

ونحن خصصنا بالنبوة منهم

ونحن خصصنا بالنبوة منهم

وكان لهذا الناس عزاً مقدما

وكان لهذا الناس عزاً مقدما

And we were singled out from among them for prophethood,

And we were singled out with prophecy among them,

and it was a foremost honor for these people.

And this was for the people an old honor.

ونحن ولينا الحجر والبيت دونهم

ونحن ولينا الحجر والبيت دونهم

ونحن حفرنا جانب الحجر زمزما

ونحن حفرنا جانب الحجر زمزما

And we, not they, held custody of the Stone and the House.

And we were made guardians of the Stone and House over them,

And we dug Zamzam beside the Stone.

And we dug the side of the Stone - Zamzam.

تخيرنا رب العباد بعلمه

تخيرنا رب العباد بعلمه

هداة وكان الله بالناس أعلما

هداة وكان الله بالناس أعلما

The Lord of His servants chose us through His knowledge,

The Lord of worshipers chose us with His knowledge,

as guides; and God knew mankind best.

As guides, and Allah was most knowing of people.

وما مثلنا في الناس أوفى بذمة

وما مثلنا في الناس أوفى بذمة

وأقول إن قالوا لحق وأحكما

وأقول إن قالوا لحق وأحكما

And none among mankind is more faithful to a covenant than we,

And none were as true to their covenant among people as we,

or more eloquent when they speak for truth, or wiser.

And I say truth and decisively if they speak.

فمن ذا الذي يعتد إن عد مثلنا

فمن ذا الذي يعتد إن عد مثلنا

أعزَّ وأنكى للعدو وأرغما

أعزَّ وأنكى للعدو وأرغما

Who, then, if counted, can be reckoned our equal—

So who can count the like of us,

mightier, more grievous to the enemy, and more humiliating,

If they count the most honored and painful to the enemy and subduer?

وأصدق عند الناس في كل موطن

وأصدق عند الناس في كل موطن

إذا شمرت حرب وأحمد مقدما

إذا شمرت حرب وأحمد مقدما

and more truthful in people's eyes in every place,

And the most truthful among people in every abode,

when war girds itself, and more praiseworthy in the charge?

When the war took off its cloak, and the best vanguard.
