لسنا نشكّ بأن الرزق مقتسمٌ

لسنا نشكّ بأن الرزق مقتسمٌ

كل امرىء آخذٌ منه بحصّته

كل امرىء آخذٌ منه بحصّته

We do not doubt that sustenance is apportioned.

We share not the doubt that livelihood's foreordained

Each person takes from it his allotted share.

For each human, receiving their destined part.

فمن غنيّ بخفض العيش في دعة

فمن غنيّ بخفض العيش في دعة

ومن فقير بزجيّه ببلغتِه

ومن فقير بزجيّه ببلغتِه

Some are rich, enjoying an easy life in repose,

So he who lives easy, made wealthy and humbled,

and some are poor, eking it out on just enough to sustain them.

And he who lives poor, despite toiling with heart.

فصحَ عنديَ فيما قلت أنيَ لم

فصحَ عنديَ فيما قلت أنيَ لم

أخلق ولم أك إلا بعد قسمته

أخلق ولم أك إلا بعد قسمته

So, from what I have said, it is clear to me that I was not

What you have spoken makes clear, in my mind,

created, nor did I exist, until after its apportionment.

I was not created 'till after fate's assigned.
