ويمشيand he walks علىon الأرضthe earth الثقيلthe tiresome man كأنماas though
ويمشي على الأرض الثقيل كأنما
علىon ناظريmy eye يمشيhe walks وليسand not علىon الأرضthe earth
على ناظري يمشي وليس على الأرض
The tiresome man walks on the earth as though
He walks upon the earth so heavily
he were walking on my eye, not on the earth.
As though upon my eyes he walks, and not the ground
أراهI see him بعيداfar away وهوwhile he يقبلhe approaches ماشياwalking
أراه بعيدا وهو يقبل ماشيا
فيدخلso enters بعضيpart of me حينwhen يقبلhe approaches فيinto بعضanother part
فيدخل بعضي حين يقبل في بعض
I see him far off as he approaches on foot,
I see him from afar approaching step by step
so one part of me enters another as he approaches.
He enters into parts of me as he comes near in parts
فإنso if جاءنيhe comes to me قصداon purpose إليّtoward me تعمّداdeliberately
فإن جاءني قصدا إليّ تعمّدا
وكنتand I was علىon رفعa height سقطتI fell إلىto خفضa low level
وكنت على رفع سقطت إلى خفض
So if he comes to me on purpose, deliberately seeking me out,
And if he comes to me with purpose and intent
and I am up high, I fall down low.
Though I was rising high, I fall into what's low
