ويترك عندنا خلفا مقيما
The rose stays for days and departs,
The rose stays for days and then departs
And leaves with us a lasting successor.
Leaving behind a lasting legacy
إذاwhen اشتقناwe long إليهfor it وقدand already تولىit has departed
إذا اشتقنا إليه وقد تولى
وجدناwe find ماءهits water (rosewater) خلفاa successor كريماgenerous
وجدنا ماءه خلفا كريما
When we long for it after it has departed,
When we miss it after it's gone
We find its rosewater a generous successor.
Its essence remains, ever so kindly
