The lion is trapped, with the lamb above the pit.
The lion pounces, and above the pounce a lamb
And man's trapping pit is death, with hope above it.
And a man's pounce is death, with hope above it

This one is lured by the sheep's voice from afar,
One is provoked by a sheep's bleat from afar
And that one is deceived by hopes and the appointed end.
While the other is fooled by hopes and fate

Blessed is God; the parables are borne out,
Blessed is God, and proverbs are true
Set forth: hope, with work above it.
A beaten hope, with work above it

And every living being whose span God has prolonged
And every living thing whose life God lengthens
Has a cause of death—an appointed end that uproots him.
Has a cause of death that pulls out its fate
