العيبُ عني مغطى

العيبُ عني مغطى

والأمر فيه موطى

والأمر فيه موطى

The fault is concealed from me,

My flaws are concealed

and the matter therein is made smooth.

And the matter covered up

ما قدّر الله يأتي

ما قدّر الله يأتي

قد خطّه الله خطّا

قد خطّه الله خطّا

What God has decreed will come;

What Allah has willed comes to pass

God has already set it down in writing.

Allah has determined it so

إن كان خيرا فخر

إن كان خيرا فخر

أو كان شرا توطا

أو كان شرا توطا

If it is good, then fall prostrate;

Whether it is good then pride yourself

or if it is evil, brace yourself.

Or whether it is bad then endure
