The backbiter speaks only when
The slanderer speaks not unless
a band of men and companions help him.
He finds support from friends around.

لو لم يجد من سامع فترة
ماnot قالhe said قولاa statement فيهin it إيجابassertion
ما قال قولا فيه إيجاب
If he found no laxity in a listener,
If he finds not a period to hear him,
he would make no statement containing an assertion.
He says no word of violation.
اشتركاthe two shared فيin القولspeech عنarising from ريبةsuspicion
اشتركا في القول عن ريبة
وحاملand the bearer of الغيبةbackbiting مغتابa backbiter
وحامل الغيبة مغتاب
The two shared in talk arising from suspicion,
They share the speech of doubt,
and the bearer of backbiting is a backbiter.
And the slanderer is the violator.
