ألا يا أيها الغادي

ألا يا أيها الغادي

على نُكري بتحقيق

على نُكري بتحقيق

Lo, O you who set out

O you who walk

against my hardship, with certainty,

Complaining of fate's cruelty -

وشاكي خالق الخلق

وشاكي خالق الخلق

إلى أضعف مخلوق

إلى أضعف مخلوق

and complain of the Creator of creation

Crying out to the Creator of all

to the weakest of creatures,

As if the weakest of creatures could aid you,

إلى من ليس يغنيك

إلى من ليس يغنيك

لدى الشدة والضيق

لدى الشدة والضيق

to one who cannot help you

As if one powerless could be your refuge

in hardship and distress:

In times of woe and misery -

كما لم تحضر الفطرة

كما لم تحضر الفطرة

في الكون بتدقيق

في الكون بتدقيق

just as you were not present at creation

Did you not enter the world through Divine decree,

in the universe, with close scrutiny,

With sustenance already allotted?

فثق بالله في الرزق

فثق بالله في الرزق

فما أنت بمسبوق

فما أنت بمسبوق

so trust in God for sustenance,

So trust in God, for your provision is assured,

for you will not be outstripped.

None can deprive you of what is yours.

كما فوضت في الجملة

كما فوضت في الجملة

فوّض في التفاريق

فوّض في التفاريق

Just as you entrusted matters as a whole,

Submit to the whole as you did at first,

entrust them in their particulars.

And leave the details to the universe.

فمن لطف في الخفق

فمن لطف في الخفق

وغدّاك بتوفيق

وغدّاك بتوفيق

So He who showed kindness in the heart's beating

For He who gave you life and grace

and fed you with divine aid—

Will not forsake you in your place,

ترى ينساك نطيقا

ترى ينساك نطيقا

بإيمان وتصديق

بإيمان وتصديق

do you think He will forget you as you speak

Have faith, believe, and you will always find

with faith and belief?

God remembers you, for you are in His mind.
