تكلّف أعلى الناس أدنى الخلائق
Lo, may God curse necessity, for it
Alas, how foul necessity is!
Forces the noblest of people to adopt the basest traits.
It burdens the noblest with the basest tasks.

يُبين فضل السبق من كل سابق
And God bless choice, for it
Yet praise be to the Lord for free will,
Reveals the merit of precedence in everyone who takes the lead.
Which shows the excellence of those who excel.

وقلّة حظّ مثل قطع العلائق
And I have seen nothing, for one afflicted with want
I've never seen one tried by fate
And scant fortune, to equal the severing of ties—
With meager fortune like sundered ties,

Especially when ignorance spends as you see,
Sold, while knowledge is not in demand.
While knowledge is no hypocrite.
