كفىit is enough عجباas a wonder أنيthat I مقيمresiding ببلدةin a town
كفى عجبا أني مقيم ببلدة
وقلبيand my heart بأخرىin another مستهامlove-struck وملهجُand enthralled
وقلبي بأخرى مستهام وملهجُ
It is wonder enough that I dwell in one town,
It is strange enough that I reside in one city
while my heart is in another, love-struck and enthralled.
While my heart resides in another, enthralled and enchanted.
وحسبكand enough for you منof ضرّhardship وبؤسand misery بمنfor one who سرىjourneyed by night
وحسبك من ضرّ وبؤس بمن سرى

غريبا فريدا مفلسا وهو أعرج
And there is hardship and misery enough for one who journeys by night,
It should suffice as misery and distress for one
a stranger, alone, penniless, and lame.
Who wanders lonely, unique, destitute, and lame.
