تنفذ حاجاتي بكل طريق

and no plentiful dirhams in my purse

And there are no shiny dirhams in my bag,

to meet my needs in every way,

That fulfill my needs in every way,

فراس ابن عمي في حرام قرابتي

فراس ابن عمي في حرام قرابتي

ورأس عدوي في حرام أم صديقي

ورأس عدوي في حرام أم صديقي

then Firas, my cousin [possibly: my cousin's head], is within my kinship's forbidden bounds,

My cousin Firas is forbidden to me by kinship,

and my enemy's head is within the forbidden bounds of my friend's mother.

And the head of my enemy is forbidden, be they friend or foe.
