    فلك الدائر في حق المسير

    If people saw the course of the

    revolving celestial sphere as it truly moves,

  2. ورأوا من فلك الأف

    لاك تأثير المنير

    and saw, from the sphere of the celestial

    spheres, the influence of the luminary,

  3. بعيان النظر الثابت

    عن كشف الستور

    with the direct perception of steadfast sight,

    through the unveiling of the veils,

  4. لرأوا ما استكثروا من

    ملكهم غير كثير

    they would see that what they deemed abundant among

    their possessions was not much;

  5. ورأوا أن فقيرا

    صاحب المال الكثير

    and they would see that poor

    is the possessor of abundant wealth;

  6. ورأوا أن غنيّا

    في غدٍ كل فقير

    and they would see that rich

    tomorrow is every poor person;

  7. ورأوا ما خرجوا منه

    إلى دار الغرور

    and they would see from what they had emerged

    into the abode of delusion;

  8. ورأوا مصدر أروا

    حهم قبل النشور

    and they would see the source of their

    souls before the resurrection;

  9. ورأوا آثار تكرا

    ر تصاريف الدهور

    and they would see the effects of repeated

    vicissitudes of the ages,

  10. بأمور محكمات

    حاريات في امور

    through firmly ordered affairs,

    unfolding amid affairs [reading uncertain],

  11. موبقات واضحات

    مثبتات كالسطور

    ruinous, plain to see,

    fixed like written lines,

  12. غاديات رائحات

    في مساء وبكور

    going forth in the morning, returning in the evening,

    at evening and at daybreak.
