If a blind man is pricked by a thorn, may there never come

to him tweezers from a sighted man's hand.

And if a blind man stumbles, may nothing come

to meet his fall but the darkness of a well.

For the sighted have but a share of evil,

while all evil lies in the blind man's nature.

Whenever the blind cur walks, he is scorned

by a dog in every matter.

And monkeys surpass him and scorn him,

as the tall man surpasses the short.
