أقول لمن سالمته المنون

أقول لمن سالمته المنون

وجاوزَ ستّين ما يشغلك

وجاوزَ ستّين ما يشغلك

I say to one with whom death has made peace,

I say to him whose safety from death has passed

And who has passed sixty: what occupies you?

And crossed sixty, what preoccupies you?

لئن كنت في مهل بالمنى

لئن كنت في مهل بالمنى

فإن المنيّة لا تمهلك

فإن المنيّة لا تمهلك

Even if you are at leisure amid hopes,

If you are taking your time to achieve wishes

Death will surely grant you no respite.

Then death will not give you time
