لم أجد يك موضعا للوصال

I found no room in you for union.
No place for our reunion could find

فتعزّيت بالسلو اضطرارا
عنكaway from you لماwhen استحسنتyou found pleasing قبحthe ugliness الفعالof deeds
عنك لما استحسنت قبح الفعال
So, out of necessity, I took comfort in forgetting
So perforce I resorted to patience
you, when you found foul deeds fair.
From you when I saw the deed so unkind
قلتI said للنفسto the soul اقصريdesist وتعزّيand take comfort
قلت للنفس اقصري وتعزّي

Whoever thinks that of him there's no need

Thinks the impossible at every time
