يحبو بأنواع القسَم
Glory be to my Creator, who

Bestows various allotted portions.
Who has gifted me in so many ways
هوHe مخرجيthe one who brings me out منfrom ظلمةdarkness
هو مخرجي من ظلمة
مستودعa repository ليfor me فيin الظلمthe shadows
مستودع لي في الظلم
He brings me out of the darkness
He is my deliverance from darkness
Of a repository for me amid the shadows.
A refuge for me in the gloom
حتىuntil إذاwhen ماemphatic particle استكملتwas fulfilled
حتى إذا ما استكملت
ليfor me علمهHis knowledge وجرىand ran القلمthe pen
لي علمه وجرى القلم
Until, when there was fulfilled
Until when His knowledge in me was complete
For me His knowledge, and the pen had run,
And the pen had run its course
صوّرتI was fashioned شيخاan old man أحنفاclub-footed
صوّرت شيخا أحنفا
أمشيI walk علىon ظهرupper side of القدمthe foot
أمشي على ظهر القدم
I was fashioned as a club-footed old man,
He fashioned me into a righteous old man
Walking on the top of my foot.
Walking with head held high
أخرجتI was brought out منfrom عدمabsence of الوجودexistence
أخرجت من عدم الوجود
إلىinto وجودexistence فيwithin عدمnonexistence
إلى وجود في عدم
I was brought out of nonexistence
Brought me out of non-existence
Into existence within nonexistence.
Into existence within nothingness
