Each day we escort someone to the graveyards,

Carrying the bier upon our shoulders:

A close friend or a loved one or a stranger.

And we bury the aged man in the earth.

    And death spares no child,

Nor does it spare the rich or the poor.

It is as though, once they dwell in the burial vaults,

If you reflect, they had never dwelt in palaces.

If a man lives a hundred and ten years,

And is stricken with fever, he says, 'I lived but a short span.'

So if you search for subtle insight,

You will find that people are living graves.
