How many a handsome one the eye beholds,

and cannot bear to be away from him!

اشتهي منه ولكنّ

اشتهي منه ولكنّ

يدي تقصر عنه

يدي تقصر عنه

I long for him, but

my hand falls short of him—

لا لصون فيه إلا

لا لصون فيه إلا

أنّني أفرقُ منهُ

أنّني أفرقُ منهُ

not because of any chastity in him, but only

because I am afraid of him.
