إذا كنت في معشر نازلا

فلا تكُ بينهم سائلا

If you are lodging among a company of people,

Then do not be a beggar among them.

وقف في المعالي تنال الرجا

وأنت على خيره واصلا

And stand firm in noble pursuits; you will attain your hope,

And you will reach its bounty.

وكن فطنا عند ذي المشكلات

وكن سامعا فاضلا عاقلا

And be discerning before one with difficult questions,

And be a listener, virtuous and wise.
