ومن العجائب للبي

ب إذا تفكّرت النفوس

ب إذا تفكّرت النفوس

And among the wonders to the wise—

And among the wonders to the observant

when souls reflect—

When souls do meditate

أن الغبيّ من الرجا

أن الغبيّ من الرجا

ل إذا أظلّته النُحوس

ل إذا أظلّته النُحوس

is that a fool among men,

Is that a foolish man

when misfortunes overshadow him,

When fortunes turn awry

طلبَ المنجّمَ كي يخفّفَ عن

طلبَ المنجّمَ كي يخفّفَ عن

ه من ضرّ وبوس

ه من ضرّ وبوس

seeks the astrologer to relieve

Will seek an astrologer to lighten

him of harm and misery.

The harm and evil eye

فإذا المنجّمُ والمُبشّر

فإذا المنجّمُ والمُبشّر

حالهم حالُ التيوس

حالهم حالُ التيوس

Yet behold, the astrologer and the bearer of glad tidings—

Then the astrologer and soothsayer

their state is that of billy goats.

Are like the addled and confused
