ألاbehold إنّماnothing but الدنياthis world وزخرفand the glitter عيشهاof its life
ألا إنّما الدنيا وزخرف عيشها
نعيمpleasure وهمّand worry خيرهاits goodness ونعيمهاand its pleasures
نعيم وهمّ خيرها ونعيمها
Behold, this world and the glitter of its life are but
Behold, this world and the adornments of its life
pleasure and worry—its goodness and its pleasures.
Are but illusion and vanity, its joys fleeting
فخذماso take what يقيمsustains النفسthe soul واهجرand forsake نعيمهاits pleasures
فخذما يقيم النفس واهجر نعيمها

يفوتك منها شرّها وهمومها
So take what sustains the soul, and forsake its pleasures;
Take what nourishes the soul and leave vain pleasures
its evil and its worries will pass you by.
So what is evil and burdensome may pass you by
