وقائل قال لي لابدّ من فرج

وقائل قال لي لابدّ من فرج

فقلت قل لي متى لا بدّ من فرج

And someone said to me, “Relief is bound to come.”

A speaker said to me relief is sure to come

So I said, “Tell me, when is relief bound to come?”

So I said, tell me when will relief surely come

فقال لي بعد شهري ذا فقلت له

فقال لي بعد شهري ذا فقلت له

من يضمن العمر لي يا بارد الحجج

من يضمن العمر لي يا بارد الحجج

Then he said to me, “After this month of mine.” So I said to him,

He said to me, in two months, so I replied

“Who will guarantee my life, O you with cold arguments?”
