يا ويح من فقد الشباب وغيّرت
منهof him مفارقhair-partings رأسهhis head بخضابwith dye
منه مفارق رأسه بخضاب
Alas for one who has lost his youth and has had
Oh woe to him who lost his youth and changed
The partings of his hair altered with dye.
His head that was dyed with henna parted from him
يرجوhe hopes for عمارةrestoration وجههhis face بخضابهwith his dye
يرجو عمارة وجهه بخضابه
ومصيرand the fate كلevery عمارةbuilding لخرابto ruin
ومصير كل عمارة لخراب
He hopes to restore his face with his dye,
He hopes to rebuild his face with its dye
Yet every building is destined for ruin.
Yet every building is fated for ruin
