to the One who governs the moon’s dark phase,

To the Planner of mysteries

ومدبّر الفلك المني

ر وما حواه على اقتدار

and governs the luminous celestial sphere

The Turner of the shining sphere

and all it contains with power.

And all that within it does lie

فالحظ يخبر فانتظر

فالحظ يخبر فانتظر

والحظ عين المستشار

والحظ عين المستشار

For fortune tells you, so wait;

Observe and then wait and see

and fortune is the counselor’s eye.

For time tells what we may not spy
