اسمعوا منّي ولا حرجُ

إنّني أعمى وبي عرجُ

Listen to me—there is no blame.

Hear me, I beg no quarter

Indeed, I am blind, and I have a limp.

Though I'm blind and lame I wander

ومريضُ الجسم من سقمٍ

ومريضُ الجسم من سقمٍ

وبه قد تتلف المهج

وبه قد تتلف المهج

And my body is sick with illness,

My body's sick and getting weaker

and through it, lives may perish.

My soul itself is in danger

فأراني فيّ قد نزلَت

فأراني فيّ قد نزلَت

بكمالٍ آية الحرج

بكمالٍ آية الحرج

So I see that in me has been revealed,

See my state and understand

in full, the verse of hardship.
