خطيب النهروان به رقاعه

وفيه على رقاعته وضاعه

وفيه على رقاعته وضاعه

The preacher of al-Nahrawan is foolish,

The orator of Nahrawan in his patchwork robe

And, besides his foolishness, he is base.

In it, according to his patchwork, his perdition

يسرّح لحية عرضت وطالت

يسرّح لحية عرضت وطالت

خراها إن رجوت لها الشفاعه

خراها إن رجوت لها الشفاعه

He combs a beard grown broad and long—

He combs his beard that has grown wide and long

Shit on it, if you hope for its intercession!

Lower it, if you wish it intercession
