غزارcopious وتسقىand are given to drink ماءهاtheir water سمكfish البحرthe sea
The rain clouds pass the thirsty by, though laden,
The thirsty pass by torrents in floods,
Copious, while the sea's fish are given their water,
While fish of the sea drink their fill;
علىdespite أنهاtheir being فيin الماءthe water غرقىsubmerged وربماand sometimes

Though they are submerged in water; and sometimes
Yet the torrent in the sea itself drowns,
The clouds pass over meadows, then pour down on barren land.
Though it may have traversed meadows, then poured upon the desert.
كذاكlikewise الغنىwealth يهديis bestowed إلىupon صاحبthe possessor of الغنىwealth
ويحرمand is denied قوتsustenance النفسthe soul ملتحفone cloaked in الفقرpoverty
So too, wealth is bestowed upon one already wealthy,
So wealth bestows gifts on the wealthy,
And one cloaked in poverty is denied life's sustenance.
Yet denies life's necessities to the shrouded poor.
ولاand no فقرpoverty إلاexcept that سوفwill يدركهovertake it الغنىwealth
فإمّاso either بيسرthrough the ease of المالwealth أوor بقوىthrough the powers of المثريthe wealthy man
Nor is there poverty that wealth will not eventually reach,
No poverty but shall be reached by wealth,
Either through ample means or a wealthy man's resources.
Whether by ease of cash or strength of enterprise.
وليسand is not الغنىwealth أنthat يكثرbecomes plentiful المالmoney للفتىfor the young man
فيضحىso he spends the morning علىin يسرease ويمسيand he spends the evening علىin وفرabundance
And wealth is not that a young man's money abounds,
Wealth lies not in piling cash for youth,
So he spends the morning in ease and the evening in plenty;
To live in ease and retire in plenty;
ولكنand yet غنىthe richness of نفسthe soul of الكريمthe noble person هوit is الغنىindependence
عنfrom الناسpeople حتىuntil ينقضيcomes to an end آخرthe end of الدهرtime
But the noble person's richness of soul is independence
But true wealth is a generous soul,
From other people, until the very end of time.
Needless of people, till time’s end.
