محاجر عينيه ارفقي بدموعه

فليست دموعا إنما روحه تجري

O sockets of his eyes, be gentle with his tears.

Be gentle with his tearing eyes,

For these are not tears; it is his soul that flows.

For it is not tears that flow but his soul,

ويا قلبه صبرا على ألم الهوى

ويا قلبه صبرا على ألم الهوى

فكلّ عظيم إنّما نيل بالصبر

فكلّ عظيم إنّما نيل بالصبر

And O his heart, endure the pain of love with patience.

And oh, his heart, be patient with love's pain

For every great thing is attained only through patience.

For greatness is achieved through patience alone.
