على جاهل صارت بكفّ منجّم
When God wills a coin to be squandered,
If God wills to lose a piece
at an ignorant man's expense, it ends up in an astrologer's hand.
It falls into the hands of an ignorant astrologer
وإلاand otherwise فماthen what يغنيavails المنجّمthe astrologer زيجهhis astronomical tables
وإلا فما يغني المنجّم زيجه
وتقومهand you appraise him/it بمنby whom فيin هوhe المنجّمthe astrologer أرحمmore merciful
وتقومه بمن في هو المنجّم أرحم
Otherwise, what use are his astronomical tables to the astrologer?
Otherwise, the astrologer's calculations are useless

لعمركby your life ماnot يشفيكcures you منof أيany علّةailment
لعمرك ما يشفيك من أي علّة

طبيب سوى الذي بالورى كريم
By your life, you are cured of no ailment
By your life, no doctor can cure you of any disease
by any physician except the one who is generous to humankind.
