الدهر يومان يوم لا تسّرّ به

الدهر يومان يوم لا تسّرّ به

وبعدهُ لكَ تفريجٌ وإيناسُ

وبعدهُ لكَ تفريجٌ وإيناسُ

Time has two kinds of days: a day that brings you no joy,

Time has two days, one that brings no joy,

and after it come relief and solace for you.

Then relief and comfort come your way.

يومٌ يسوء ويوم فيه مفرجة

يومٌ يسوء ويوم فيه مفرجة

وبين هذين ما قد يذهب الياس

وبين هذين ما قد يذهب الياس

A day that brings sorrow, and a day in which there is relief,

A day that's bad, a day that's blessed,

and between these two is what may dispel despair.

Between them hope may fade away.
