جَعَلتِyou made مَحَلَّةَthe dwelling of البَلوىaffliction فُؤاديmy heart
وَسَلَّطتِand you imposed السُهادَsleeplessness عَلىupon رُقاديmy slumber
You made my heart the dwelling of affliction.
You have made my heart a dwelling place for affliction,
And you imposed sleeplessness upon my slumber.
And unleashed insomnia upon my slumber.
وَنِمتِand you slept خَلِيَّةًcarefree وَفَقَدتُand I lost نَوميmy sleep
أَماdid ... not? اِستَحياfeel ashamed رُقادُكِyour slumber مِنof سُهاديmy sleeplessness
And you slept carefree, while I lost my sleep.
You slept deeply while I lost my sleep,
Was your slumber not ashamed of my sleeplessness?
Does not your sleep feel ashamed before my insomnia?
سَأَسكُتُI shall be silent إِنif بَخِلتِyou are miserly بِجَدعِwith cutting off أَنفيmy nose
وَأَحفَظُكُمand I safeguard you (plural) إِلىuntil يَومِthe day of التَنادِcalling to one another
I shall be silent if you begrudge cutting off my nose.
I will stay silent if you begrudge me my breath,
And I shall safeguard you until the Day of Calling.
And keep you safely until the day we meet.
وَأَنصَحُكِand I am sincere toward you المَوَدَّةَaffection مِنfrom ضَميريmy inmost heart
وَأَذخَرُand I treasure سِرَّthe secret of حُبِّكِloving you فيin فُؤاديmy heart
And I offer you sincere affection from my inmost heart.
I advise you sincere affection from my conscience,
And I treasure the secret of loving you in my heart.
And store the secret of your love in my heart.
