مَتّينيyou have killed me فَهَلso, will...? لَكِfor you أَنto تَرُدّيrestore
حَياتيmy life مِنfrom مَقالِكِyour words بِالغُرورِwith false hopes
You have killed me; will you restore
You have kept me waiting, so will you respond?
my life with false hopes drawn from your words?
My life hangs on your words of false hope
فَقَدfor perhaps أَحياI live بِقَولِكِthrough your saying ليto me جَواباًin reply
نَعَمyes أَوor لاno فَمُنّيso bestow بِاليَسيرِa little
For I may live through your answering me,
With a simple yes or no you could revive me
"Yes" or "No"—so grant me this little.
So grant me this small favor
أَرىI see حُبَّيكِmy love for you يَنميgrows كُلَّevery يَومٍday
وَجَورُكِand your injustice فيin الهَوىlove عَدلٌjustice فَجوريso be unjust
I see my love for you growing every day;
I see your love for me grow each day
and your injustice in love is justice—so be unjust.
Yet your tyranny in passion is unjust to me
وَإِنand if أَرضاكِpleases you هَجريabandoning me فَاِهجُرينيthen abandon me
فَماfor whatever أَرضاكِpleases you يُنميincreases ليfor me سُروريmy joy
And if abandoning me pleases you, then abandon me;
If leaving you brings you joy then leave me
for whatever pleases you increases my joy.
For your happiness is my happiness
