O soul of the one for whom my soul yearns,

And the one whose love has wasted my body, though he did not know,

And the one hidden from sight, with whom I am enamored,

Healthy, yet languid-eyed whenever he looks.

    And she, full-hipped and slender-waisted,

Her form surpasses other forms in beauty.

I gazed upon her on Thursday, when she appeared,

Walking as the pampered among men walk.

So I glorified God, in awe and reverence for her,

As she had unveiled a face like the sun and the moon.

And I gain nothing from my love for her except that,

When she is mentioned, my heart rejoices and finds peace.
