    O Fawz, by God, forgive—

    forgive me my sin today.

Show me favor and have mercy.

O you, may my father be your ransom! O you, may my father be your ransom!

    Show favor to one whom

love for you has worn down, and seek God's reward.

O my honey, O my sugar,

O my pearl, O my gold!

    فَاِقتَسِمي وَاِنتَهِبي

    My heart is wholly devoted to you;

so take your share and plunder it.

How can life be sweet for me

    amid the visitations of anguish

from an envious man who assails us,

    on the brink of lying?

Do not lose heart; be steadfast

for our union, and keep watch.

So if my messengers come to you,

    then listen and draw near.

If you fear that I may be noticed

by a watcher among you, then write.

It weighed heavily on me—may my father be your ransom—

what they did on my account.

    By God, O my lady,

do not be angered by my anger.

I turn aside from your door

for fear of my uncle and my father.

    a comet on the horizon.

What is it with this love that never

    ceases to keep me weary?

How long must I endure it?

O my ruin! O my despoiling!

Evening and morning find me love-distraught,

worn out by my love for you.

an informer were telling of my sorrows.
