My heart and my eye are faithful to her in her absence,
My heart and eyes are guardians of her absence
In every circumstance, whether in contentment or reproach.
In every state of acceptance or blame

My eye flirts with her, so its gaze is confined
My eyes flirt with her so she lowers her gaze
To her, and my heart refuses union with anyone else.
My heart is devoted to her and refuses any but her

Love clothed me in its garments when I fell in love with her,
Passion clothed me in its garb when I clung to her
So I went to the lovers in love’s robe of honor.
So I was numbered among lovers in the raiment of love
