May the crow perish: it has indeed augured parting.

Why did it not augur mutual visits and reunion?

How can I escape my love for you, when indeed

God has taken my pledge to love?

And after shunning the paths of love, I was content

to be called the standard-bearer of lovers.

I had indeed been apprehensive before love took hold—

if only my apprehension had been of any avail to me!
