رُبَّmany a لَيلٍnight قَدindeed سَهِرتُهI stayed awake through it
رُبَّmany a دَمعٍtear قَدindeed أَفَضتُهI shed it
Many a night I have stayed awake through.
Many a night have I passed sleepless,
Many a tear I have shed.
Many a tear have I shed,
رُبَّmany a حُزنٍsorrow ليof mine طَويلٍlong
مَعَwith حُبٍّlove ليof mine كَتَمتُهI concealed it
Many a long sorrow has been mine,
Much sorrow have I borne,
along with a love of mine I have concealed.
With a love I kept hidden,

If death were tasted by the most grief-stricken of
If death were to taste the bitterest
people through love, I would have tasted it.
Of people in love, I would have tasted it,

May my father be ransom for the one who does not care
By the One who cares not
whether I am absent from him or present with him.
If I am absent from him or with him,

I am of the most passionate of God's creation for Him,
God, ever since I came to know him.
I have had an eye on Him since I knew Him.
