مَ لَراجٍ لِلعَطفِ مِنكِ غَدا
Indeed, though you have wronged me today,
Though I may have transgressed against you today
I still hope for tenderness from you tomorrow.
There remains hope for your kindness tomorrow

لَم أَرَ مِنكُم ما أَرتَجي أَبَدا
I take pleasure at night in hope, although
I pass the night happily in hope
I have never seen from you what I hope for.
Though I may never find what I wish from you

I beguile my soul with you and deceive it—
I delude myself about you and deceive myself
A soul that sees error as right guidance where you are concerned.
A soul that sees righteousness in you, rightly guided
