حَتّى اِبتُليتُ بِمَن لا

يُحِبُّني وَأُحِبُّه

يُحِبُّني وَأُحِبُّه

until I was afflicted with someone who does not

Until I was tested with one who doesn't

love me, yet I love him.

Love me, and I love him

يَهوى بُعادي وَهَجري

يَهوى بُعادي وَهَجري

وَمُنيَتي الدَهرَ قُربُه

وَمُنيَتي الدَهرَ قُربُه

He desires my distance and estrangement,

He desires my distance and aloofness

while my lifelong wish is his nearness.

And my death is his nearness

فَلَيتَ قَلبي لَهُ كا

فَلَيتَ قَلبي لَهُ كا

نَ مِثلَ ما لِيَ قَلبُه

نَ مِثلَ ما لِيَ قَلبُه

So, if only my heart toward him were

If only my heart for him was

like his heart toward me.
