سَأَلتُI asked بِحَقِّby the sanctity of هَذاthis الشَهرِmonth أَلّاwill you not
سَأَلتُ بِحَقِّ هَذا الشَهرِ أَلّا
رَجَعتِyou returned إِلىto المَوَدَّةِaffection وَالوِصالِand union
رَجَعتِ إِلى المَوَدَّةِ وَالوِصالِ
I implored you, by the sanctity of this month: will you not
I begged you for the sanctity of this month, do not
Return to affection and union?
Return to intimacy and reunion
فَأَنتِfor you وَإِنand even if أَضَعتِyou forsook الوُدَّlove عِنديto me
فَأَنتِ وَإِن أَضَعتِ الوُدَّ عِندي
بِمَنزِلَةِin the position of اليَمينِthe right hand مِنَin relation to الشِمالِthe left hand
بِمَنزِلَةِ اليَمينِ مِنَ الشِمالِ
For you, even if you have forsaken love, are to me
Yet you, though you have lost affection for me
As the right hand is to the left.
Are like my right hand is to my left
