مَيِّتٌ مِن هَواكَ يا إِنسانُ
I, if God does not defend me,
If God does not defend me from your love,
will die of love for you, O human being.
I am dead, O man!

عَن مُحِبٍ تَشُفُّهُ الأَحزانُ
Would that I—and wishes are of little avail
Would that I and wishes had gained,
to a lover whom sorrows wear thin—
A little, to console a lover whom sorrows torment,

I die before seeing you, and before
your estrangement became apparent to me, my lord.
Your abandonment of me appears, my master.
