نَصيريmy defender اللَهُGod مِنكِagainst you إِذاwhen اِعتَدَيتِyou transgressed
نَصيري اللَهُ مِنكِ إِذا اِعتَدَيتِ
وَقَدand indeed عذَّبتِyou tormented قَلبيmy heart إِذwhen جَفَوتِyou shunned me
وَقَد عذَّبتِ قَلبي إِذ جَفَوتِ
God is my defender against you when you wrong me.
My protector is God against you if you oppress me
And you have tormented my heart when you shunned me.
Though you have tortured my heart when you were harsh
فَإِنso if يَكُis ذاthis مُغايَظَةًprovocation لِحِقدٍout of spite
فَإِن يَكُ ذا مُغايَظَةً لِحِقدٍ
فَقَدthen indeed وَاللَهِby God ياO أَمَليmy hope اِشتَفَيتِyou found satisfaction
فَقَد وَاللَهِ يا أَمَلي اِشتَفَيتِ
So if this is provocation born of spite,
And if this be out of spiteful malice
then, by God, O my hope, you have found satisfaction.
By God, O my hope, you have quenched my thirst
قَضىdecreed بِالسَبكِwith melting حُبُّكِlove for you فيin عِظاميmy bones
قَضى بِالسَبكِ حُبُّكِ في عِظامي
وَصَيَّرَنيand made me هَواكِpassion for you كَماas اِشتَهَيتِyou wished
وَصَيَّرَني هَواكِ كَما اِشتَهَيتِ
My love for you has decreed that my bones be melted down,
Your love has crept into my bones
and my passion for you has made me as you wished.
And your passion has made me just as I desired
فَلَوso if شاءَwilled الَّذيHe who بِكُمُwith you اِبتَلانيafflicted me
فَلَو شاءَ الَّذي بِكُمُ اِبتَلاني
لَعَجَّلَwould have hastened راحَتيmy relief مِنكُمfrom you بِمَوتيthrough my death
لَعَجَّلَ راحَتي مِنكُم بِمَوتي
So had He who afflicted me with you willed it,
Had He who tested me with you willed
He would have hastened my relief from you through my death.
He would have hastened my relief from you with my death
