يا مَن يُكاتِمُني تَغَيُّرَ قَلبِهِ

سَأَكُفُّ نَفسي قَبلَ أَن تَتَبَرَّما

O you who hides from me the change in his heart

I will restrain myself before it crumbles

سَأَكُفُّ عَنكَ وَفي يَدَيَّ بَقِيَّةٌ

مِن حَبلِ وَصلِكَ قَبل أَن يَتَصَرَّما

I will refrain from you, and in my hands remains

A piece of the rope of your connection before it frays

يا لِلرِجالِ لِعاشِقَينِ تَوافَقا

فَتَخاطَبا مِن غَيرِ أَن يَتَكَلَّما

Oh for men, for lovers who understood each other

And conversed without uttering a word

حَتّى إِذا خَشِيا الوُشاةَ وَأَشفَقا

جَعَلا الإِشارَةَ بِالأَنامِلِ سُلَّما

Until when they feared the slanderers and worried
