I would give my life for مَنthe one whom لاnot أُفَدّيI would ransom غَيرَهُanyone other than him أَبَداever
وَمَنand the one whom أَرىI deem الغَيَّerror فيماin what سَرَّهُpleases him رَشَداright guidance
I would give my life for him, and never for anyone else,
And for him whose pleasure makes me deem error right guidance,
وَمَنand the one who يَغيبُis absent فَأَرعاهُso I care for him وأَحفَظَهُand keep faith with him
وَلاand not أَرىI find عِندَهُin him حِفظاًfaithfulness إِذاwhen شَهِداhe is present
And for him who goes away, while I care for him and keep faith with him,
Yet I find no faithfulness in him when he is present.
أَمّاas for رَسوليmy messenger فَمَمنوعُthen he is barred اللِقاءِthe meeting بِكُمwith you
وَلاand not يَهُمُّكُمُconcerns you أَنthat تُرسِلواyou send أَحَداanyone
As for my messenger, he is barred from meeting you,
And you do not care to send anyone.
