دوَماalways نَزَحَتflowed out لِلعَينِfor the eye بَعدَكِafter you عَبرَةٌa tear
إِذاwhenever اِنحَدَرَتit flowed down قادَتit led لَهاto it أَخَواتِsisters
Ever since you left, a tear has continually welled in my eye;
Since you left, a tear keeps flowing from my eye.
whenever it falls, it leads its sisters after it.
Whenever it falls, it draws its sisters after it.
وَأَستَرزِقُand I seek sustenance from الرَحمَنthe Most Merciful لِلعَينِfor the eye نَظرَةًa glance
إِلَيكِtoward you تُداويهاheals it مِنَof العَبَراتِthe tears
And I seek from the All-Merciful, as provision for my eye, one glance
And I ask the Most Merciful to grant my eye a glance
toward you, to heal it of its tears.
at you, to heal it of its tears.
فَإِنso if مُتُّI die بِالشَوقِof the longing الَّذيwhich بيis within me إِلَيكُمُfor you
فَتِلكَthen that لَعَمريby my life حَسرَةُthe sorrow الحَسَراتِthe sorrows
If I should die of the longing within me for you,
So if I die of the longing within me for you,
then that—by my life—would be the anguish of all anguishes.
then that, by my life, is the sorrow of sorrows.
