إِذاwhen ماemphatic particle دَعَوتُI called upon الصَبرَpatience بَعدَكِafter you وَالبُكاand weeping
إِذا ما دَعَوتُ الصَبرَ بَعدَكِ وَالبُكا
أَجابَanswered البُكاweeping طَوعاًwillingly وَلَمand did not يُجِبِanswer الصَبرُpatience
أَجابَ البُكا طَوعاً وَلَم يُجِبِ الصَبرُ
Whenever, in your absence, I summon patience and weeping,
Whenever I call upon patience and weeping in your absence,
weeping answers readily, but patience does not.
Weeping answers willingly, but patience does not.
فَإِنso if تَقطَعيyou cut off مِنكِfrom you الرَجاءَhope فَإِنَّهُthen indeed it
فَإِن تَقطَعي مِنكِ الرَجاءَ فَإِنَّهُ
سَيَبقىwill remain عَلَيكِfor you الحُزنُsorrow ماas long as بَقِيَremains الدَهرُtime
سَيَبقى عَلَيكِ الحُزنُ ما بَقِيَ الدَهرُ
If you cut off all hope I have of you, then
So if you cut off my hope in you, then
grief for you will remain as long as time endures.
Sorrow for you will remain as long as time endures.
