وَلَوand if أَنَّthat الرياحَthe winds كانَتwere جَنوباًsoutherly
وَلَو أَنَّ الرياحَ كانَت جَنوباً
حَمَلَتthey would carry مِنِّيَfrom me السلامَgreetings إِلَيكاto you
حَمَلَت مِنِّيَ السلامَ إِلَيكا
And were the winds southerly,
And if the winds had blown from the south
They would carry my greetings to you.
I would have sent my greetings to you
لَكِنِbut الريحُthe wind مُذsince غَضِبتَyou grew angry شَمالٌnortherly
لَكِنِ الريحُ مُذ غَضِبتَ شَمالٌ
فَسَلاميso my greetings مَعَwith الشَمالِthe north wind عَلَيكاupon you
فَسَلامي مَعَ الشَمالِ عَلَيكا
But since you grew angry, the wind has been northerly;
But since you were angry the winds turned north
So, with the north wind, my greetings to you.
So my greetings go with the north wind to you
