وَمُختَلِسٍAnd one who steals بِالطَرفِwith his gaze مَاwhat لاnot يَنالُهُhe reaches it
وَمُختَلِسٍ بِالطَرفِ مَا لا يَنالُهُ
قَريباًnearby بِحالِin the condition of النازحِone far away المُتَباعِدِthe distant one
قَريباً بِحالِ النازحِ المُتَباعِدِ
And one who steals with his gaze what he cannot reach,
And a glimpse stolen by the eye that cannot be attained
though nearby, in the plight of one far away and distant.
Soon by the state of the distancing wanderer
وَفيAnd in نَظَرِthe gaze of الصاديthe thirsty one إِلىtoward الماءِthe water حَسرَةٌanguish
وَفي نَظَرِ الصادي إِلى الماءِ حَسرَةٌ
إِذاwhen كانَhe is مَمنوعاًdenied سَبِيلَthe path to المَوارِدِthe watering places
إِذا كانَ مَمنوعاً سَبِيلَ المَوارِدِ
And there is anguish in the thirsty man's gaze at water,
And in the glance of the thirsty towards water, there is longing
when he is denied the path to the watering places.
When the way to the springs is forbidden
