إِنَّindeed الَّذيthe one whom اِستَخبَرتُهُI asked him for news عَنكُمُabout you

أَشعَلَ في قَلبِيَ مِثلَ الحَريق
Indeed, the one I asked about you
The one I asked about you
kindled in my heart something like a blaze.
Lit in my heart a blazing fire
خَبَّرَhe reported عَنabout شَكواكُمُyour suffering بِالَّذيwith that which
خَبَّرَ عَن شَكواكُمُ بِالَّذي

يَبكي لَهُ كُلُّ خَليلٍ صَديق
He spoke of your suffering in words
He told of your complaints with words
that make every close, true friend weep.
That makes each loyal friend weep
وَانهَلَّتِand streamed with tears العَينانِboth eyes مِنfrom قَولِهِhis words
وَانهَلَّتِ العَينانِ مِن قَولِهِ
وَطارَand flew قَلبيmy heart كَالجَناحِlike the wing الخَفوقfluttering
وَطارَ قَلبي كَالجَناحِ الخَفوق
And both eyes streamed with tears at his words,
And at his words my eyes poured forth
and my heart flew like a fluttering wing.
My heart took flight like fluttering wings
