وَأَهجُرُand I withdraw عَمداًdeliberately كَيso that يُقالَit may be said لَقَدindeed سَلاhe has forgotten his love
وَأَهجُرُ عَمداً كَي يُقالَ لَقَد سَلا
وَلَستُand I am not بِسالٍforgetful عَنof هَواكِlove for you إِلىuntil الحَشرِthe Resurrection
وَلَستُ بِسالٍ عَن هَواكِ إِلى الحَشرِ
And I deliberately withdraw, so it may be said, “He has forgotten his love.”
I purposely abandon so it's said he's given up
Yet I shall not forget my love for you until the Resurrection.
Yet I'm not done with love for you till Judgment Day
وَلكِنbut إِذاwhen كانَis المُحِبُّthe lover عَلىtoward الَّذيthe one whom
وَلكِن إِذا كانَ المُحِبُّ عَلى الَّذي
يُحِبُّhe loves شَفيقاًsolicitous عامَلَhe dealt with الناسَpeople بِالهَجرِthrough estrangement
يُحِبُّ شَفيقاً عامَلَ الناسَ بِالهَجرِ
But when a lover is protective of the one
But when a lover's kind unto whom he loves
he loves, he feigns estrangement before others.
He'll deal with people through aloofness, anyway
